Publication Ethics

Journal of Southern Agriculture, a Chinese scientific core journal in agriculture, provides a platform for publishing scientific papers on a wide range of subjects, and enhances the exchange of ideas in agriculture for authors and readers. As a rigorous journal, we adopt high standards to ensure the accuracy, quality and originality of published papers. For all parties involved in the act of publishing (the author, the journal editor(s), the reviewer and the publisher), it is necessary to adhere to the principles outlined below.

Author Responsibilities

Originality

The authors should ensure the integrity and originality of the papers they submit to Journal of Southern Agriculture.

Acknowledgement of sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work and/or words of others must be given. Authors should also cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Possible errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal’s editor or publisher and cooperate with them to either retract the paper or to publish an appropriate erratum.

Authorship of the manuscript

The manuscript must have been read and approved by all authors and that all authors have agreed to the submission of the manuscript to Journal of Southern Agriculture. All authors should have made substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study, drafting or revision of the article, and final approval of the version to be submitted.

Editor Responsibilities

Accountability

The editor of Journal of Southern Agriculture is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published, and, moreover, accountable for everything published in the journal. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers when making publication decisions. The editor should guard the integrity of the published record by issuing corrections and retractions when needed and pursuing suspected or alleged research and publication misconduct.

Fairness and Confidentiality

The editors should evaluate each manuscript without any bias. The editors must not disclose any information about the manuscripts to anyone other than the author, and should not use knowledge of the work before its publication to their own interests unless permitted by the authors.

Reviewer Responsibilities

Contribution to editorial decisions

The reviewers should assist the editors in making editorial decisions and, through the editorial communication with the author, may also assist the author in improving the manuscript.

Confidentiality

The reviewers must not disclose any information of the manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding authors and the editors. Reviewers will remain anonymous and their comments will not be published.

Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inacceptable. Reviewers should express their views clearly with appropriate supporting arguments.

Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher should take all appropriate measures to clarify the situation and amend the work in question in close collaboration with the editors in cases of proven misconduct. This includes the prompt publication of an erratum or, in the most severe cases, the complete retraction of the affected work.
